About the Organization
The Nunavut Housing Corporation (NHC) is an agency of the Government of Nunavut that serves the housing needs of one of the fastest-growing and youngest populations in Canada. NHC’s mandate is to create, coordinate, and administer housing programs in order to provide fair access to a range of affordable housing options to families and individuals in Nunavut. NHC has recently launched The Nunavut 3000 Strategy, which is a collaboration between the government and its partners to deliver 3,000 new units across the housing continuum by 2030.

About the Opportunity
NHC is excited to offer a full-time Vice President, Finance & Corporate Services role within our committed team based in Iqaluit, Nunavut.
Reporting to the President & CEO, you will play a crucial leadership role in the development and coordination of corporate finances, corporate policy, strategic planning and communications, information technology systems, human resource functions and procedures, and long-term planning in support of the NHC's vision, mission, mandate, goals, and objectives.
Your responsibilities will also include the supervision of staff, research, strategic economic and financial planning for the Corporation, and acting as the Secretariat to the Corporation. You will ensure the fiscal and monetary well-being of the Corporation, impacting all the Corporation’s Divisions, three Districts (Kivalliq, Kitikmeot, Qikiqtaaluk), 25 Local Housing Organizations (LHOs), and various contract and individual Corporation clients and vendors. Additionally, you will provide functional guidance, oversight, and support for approximately 337 staff employed with the LHOs in the areas of Finance, Information Technology, and Human Resources.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Developing and coordinating corporate finances and policies
- Overseeing strategic planning and communications
- Managing information technology systems and human resource functions
- Conducting long-term planning in support of NHC’s vision and goals
- Supervising staff and overseeing research and strategic economic planning
- Acting as the Secretariat to the Corporation
- Ensuring adherence to generally accepted accounting principles and legislative requirements
This role offers the unique chance to impact the financial stewardship and operational success of Nunavut's housing strategies, all while experiencing the rich cultural and natural landscapes of Canada’s North.
About You
To qualify, you will need a recognized professional accounting designation (e.g., CPA, CGA, CA, CMA, etc.) and professional training in related fields such as Management and Financial Accounting. A minimum of ten (10) years of progressive experience in a financial and management environment will also be essential.
Moreover, you must be well-versed in Generally-Accepted Accounting and Generally-Accepted Auditing Principles.
